Labette Health

Growing to meet your birthing needs

The labor will take longer than nine months, but the much-anticipated delivery will be worth the wait. Labette Health's new birthing center is coming to life on the drawing board.

The center will include a labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) suite; two traditional labor and delivery suites; a triage room; an operating room suite; and four private postpartum suites. Each suite will feature a large, private bathroom, personal sink and vanity, television, and a sleeper love seat so that the support person can stay overnight.

When it's time for delivery, the suite can be converted within seconds into a delivery room with cutting-edge technology and equipment. The suites will allow the mother to labor, deliver and recover all within the same spacious suiteĀ—improving efficiency, comfort and the overall patient experience by providing a homelike atmosphere.

It takes a village

"Our OB team is dedicated to providing exceptional routine care of the obstetrical patient," says Sharon Roberts, RN, obstetrics/nursery director. "We are committed to nurturing the patient, baby and family."

It takes a village to raise a child, and Labette Health sought a village's worth of input to be involved with the design of the new center. Dozens of doctors, nurses, patients and others have all been invited to share their thoughts for the future center.

"As Labette Health continues to grow our obstetrical services, we want our new mothers and their families to feel comfortable, as well as cared for. Our experienced labor and delivery team work diligently to ensure all their medical needs are met and surpassed, and we want to make sure the physical environment reflects our clinical commitment," says Brian Williams, President and CEO.
