Description:
Position Summary:
The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality breakfast meals for patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with dietary guidelines and hospital standards. This role ensures safe food handling, proper sanitation, and excellent service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook breakfast menu items according to hospital recipes and dietary restrictions.
- Ensure meals meet specific dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, pureed, etc.).
- Set up and break down breakfast service stations in a timely and sanitary manner.
- Follow portion control standards and minimize food waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure food safety standards are consistently met.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating inventory as needed.
- Collaborate with dietitians, food service aides, and other kitchen staff to support smooth food service operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1+ year of experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, institutional, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, safe food handling, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and dietary guidelines.
- ServSafe Certification (preferred or required within 90 days of hire).
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to hot equipment.
