Description:
SUMMARY
Provides emergency health care services to patients of all ages under the supervision of a physician in an Emergency room setting. Treats patients according to their history and symptoms. Provides care to trauma patients according to the Trauma Activation Criteria. Utilizes the appropriate documentation tools for all patients. Performs an expedient, accurate, and professional assessment of physical and psychosocial needs of patients based on the age specific needs and state of the patient. Performs ongoing assessments and treatment plans as warranted by the dynamic status of the patient. Analyzes assessment data to appropriate persons and formulates a plan of care that provides a therapeutic and safe environment for the patient. Requests assistance from available medical provider when needed. Administers, documents and charges medications given by all routes according to accepted Policies and Procedures of Labette Health and shows familiarity of ACLS drugs. Documents appropriate discharge instructions, transfer information, and notification of special services according to the policies and procedures of Labette Health. Works with nursing staff to ensure understanding by patients and or their families. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environment and infection control standards. Maintains a positive work environment and demonstrates a teamwork approach.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Licensure or eligible for licensing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Kansas. Current BLS, must obtain ACLS, PALS and ATLS in next available class.
