SUMMARY:

Coordinates the infection control program, surveillance activities and facilitates multi-disciplinary team projects hospital wide. Demonstrates expertise in infection control practices as an organizational resource using up-to-date infection control practices. Demonstrates ability to stay current on Infection Control related accreditation requirement and CMS IQR/OQR requirements. Responsible for meeting data submission requirements for Infection Control related activities. Chairs the Infection Control Committee and attends other committee as assigned. Responsible for implementing, reviewing and updating Infection Control related policies and protocols with Medical Staff. Demonstrates the ability to effectively lead organizational change management and team building. Plans, prepares and implements appropriate education to patients, visitors, community and across multi-disciplinary teams. Reviews employee lab work, assesses the need for follow-up and all vaccinations for completions. Assists in maintaining immunization and employee health files. Assists human resources with workers compensation management. Other duties include, but are not limited to, investigate infection clusters and unusual pathogens; coordinates reporting of communicable diseases to Health Department; reviews positive laboratory results, identifies out breaks of infections and initiates control measures, initiates or discontinue isolation precautions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Diploma in nursing, Associate's Degree (A.D.N.) from two-year college or Bachelor's Degree (B.S.N.) from a four year college and successful completion of a prescribed curriculum of study which has led to licensure as a Registered Nurse in Kansas. Successful completion of CDE certification process at soonest possible testing date.
