SUMMARY

To directly supervise the housekeeping and linen services supervisors and employees, ensuring the medical center a high level of sanitation and appearance, and an adequate supply of clean linen, by maintaining a competent, efficient, and sufficiently supplied work force. Is in frequent contact with departments, keeping them informed and involved in decisions affecting their areas. Participates in the safety program pertaining to general safety, fire and life emergency management. Provides knowledge and interpretations for applicable regulations, codes and requirements. Hires the most competent people available and is not afraid to select strong subordinates. Deals effectively with a culturally diverse workforce. Treats all people with dignity and respect. Understands how to motivate individuals making use of their strengths and interests. Is aware of individual career goals and supports efforts to achieve them. Actively seeks development opportunities for employees. Consistently holds employees accountable and takes corrective action when necessary. Rewards effort, hard work and results. Actively resolves conflicts and demonstrates effective conflict management skills. Works well with others. Coordinates training activities for all employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

This position requires good communication skills, both oral and written. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a combination of experience and formal training.
