Price for COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing

For COVID-19 diagnostic testing at Labette Health, patients must receive written orders from their physician or provider. Labette Health offers a special cash price of $85 for COVID-19 diagnotic testing. Upon arrival, please inform registration clerk that you would like to pay the cash price for the COVID-19 diagnostic test. Cash, credit card and checks are accepted.

PUBLIC NOTICE

These are unprecedented times as we face this COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, but we wanted to assure you that Labette Health is taking the necessary steps to care for you and your families in the event it becomes necessary. You might notice some activity this week at both of our campuses in Parsons and Independence as we make necessary preparations for what we all hope does not come to be needed.

In Independence, we have ordered three modular buildings and worked with both the City of Independence and Evergy to accommodate these modular units as well as constructing a temporary RV park for healthcare workers to stay at the facility. These additional modular units combined with our existing rooms will allow us to care for up to 30 Hospital patients at Independence Healthcare Center. We are in the process of developing a Physician, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy staffing plan for these beds as well, which may include shifting staff from our main facility and clinics.

In Parsons, we have temporarily converted an unoccupied floor in the hospital, conference rooms, and The CORE to accommodate Hospital beds. Some of this preparation is complete and some is ongoing.

Late Friday evening, Labette Health applied to Kansas Department of Health and Environment for an expansion of our Hospital license from 99 beds to 160 beds, and we are in the process of attaining any necessary CMS waivers.

All of this preparation may become unnecessary if we continue to social distance, hand wash, and respect the stay at home order, so please do your part to take this serious and protect each other.

Labette Health has opened a Fever Clinic in response to the increasing Coronavirus concerns. The Fever Clinic is located in front of the hospital in Building G (The Rector Center). The Fever Clinic is open from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday, 8am to 2pm Saturday and 1pm to 4pm Sunday.

WHO SHOULD BE SEEN AT THE FEVER CLINIC

  • Any child or adult who exhibits a fever or potential exposure to COVID-19.
  • Patients will only be tested for COVID-19 if indicated by their exam.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Call the Fever Clinic first: 620.820.5230.
  • Your visit may be completed via Telehealth or you may be advised to visit the clinic.
  • Preliminary registration information and your symptoms will be collected over the phone.
  • If you have a mask at home, have it on upon arrival.
  • Upon arrival, remain in your vehicle and call the number located on the parking space sign.
  • Only the patient will be allowed in the clinic unless the patient is under the age of 18 or an elderly/disabled person who needs assistance. Only one visitor per patient.

As always, any person with a medical emergency such as shortness of breath or respiratory distress should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Elective and Non-Urgent Surgeries

Effective Friday, March 20, Labette Health is postponing Elective and non-urgent surgeries and procedures. Any Urgent and Emergent surgeries and procedures will continue uninterrupted including obstetric deliveries and inductions. This decision comes from recommendations by the American Red Cross, American College of Surgeons, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the American Hospital Association.

“Rescheduling these surgeries and procedures will minimize the risk to our patients, visitors, and staff,” Phil Gorman, MD, Chief of Staff. “It also allows our hospital to conserve critical resources and focus care on those that need it most and will allow us to prioritize Urgent and Emergent surgeries.”

Patients who fall into this category of Elective and non-urgent surgeries will receive communications from Labette Health with further instructions in the near future. If patients have specific questions, they should reach out to their healthcare provider.
