Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit is
a five-bed multidisciplinary care unit located on the second
floor of the Labette Health. The Intensive Care Unit specializes
in the comprehensive care of critically ill patients using
some of the latest in medical technology including state
of the art cardiac monitoring equipment and ventilator
systems. All rooms are private rooms and can be viewed
from the nurses station. Each bed has a monitor attached
to the central monitor for constant monitoring at the nurses
station. Nursing care is provided by a specially trained
Registered Nurse. Other team members included in the patient
care is respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational
therapy, dietary, social services and pharmacy.
Visitors are allowed and are an important
part of the healing process. However, visitors are requested
to call the nurses station prior to entering the Intensive
Care Unit.
3 North Surgical
Unit
3 North is a 16 bed patient care unit located on the 3rd
floor of Labette Health. 3 North has ten (10) private rooms
and three (3) semi-private rooms. Usual types of patients
seen include general surgical, and orthopedic patients.
Each patient is assigned to a Registered Nurse to work
with the physician and other health care team members to
promote healing, prevent complications and to focus on
pain management.
Many patients opt to participate in the
Rapid Recovery Joint Replacement Program for their elective
total joint replacement. This is a participative program
in which the patient and their coach attend a preparative
class before the surgery to meet members of the health
care team and learn about the program from admission to
discharge. The multidisciplinary program which includes
group therapy provided by physical therapists helps to
reduce recovery time and shorten hospital stays.
2 North/Medical/Telemetry/Pediatric
2 North is a 24 bed patient care unit with cardiac monitoring
capabilities using telemetry units which are monitored
at the nurses station. 2 North is located on the second
floor of Labette Health and has nine semi-private rooms
and six private rooms. This area serves patients from
pediatrics to geriatrics. Care is delivered 24 hours
a day and each patient is assigned to a registered nurse
to work with the physician and other health care team
members to promote healing. |
