TIM McMILLAN
ORTHOPEDIC PATIENT

Inspired by family craftsmen,Tim McMillan's a natural when it comes to creativity. He's a creative problem solver at work as an overall maintenance production line mechanic, who simply loves working with people and things. Whether tackling a design problem or creations of metal or wood, Tim lets inspiration direct him. That philosophy, plus his talent, has led him into hobbies from which he start a small business, Odd Iron. Through this business-hobby, Tim has produced yard and ornamental iron works and also was led to become an avid, detailed wood carver. These passions and money generated from them, came together to lead Tim and his wife to a "lifelong project" – construction of "The Sanctuary".

"I love to spend time with people and everything I do is for people to enjoy. The Sanctuary is the greatest of all things that has come into our lives. My wife, Linda, and I were both widowed, then found each other in church and restarted our lives together. We started to build our new home and it's now become a God project. Not one person has stepped on the Sanctuary property without being in awe when they've driven away."

However, construction on the Sanctuary, and all Tim's other work, halted abruptly when he was in an accident and suffered a badly broken ankle, involving both bones just an inch above the joint. This time Tim's faith led him to the staff of Labette Health for the problem solving.

"The ER Staff at Labette Health was fantastic. The doctors, nurses, x-ray tech, all were very professional in their fields, and everything came together. Because of the location of the break, the doctor said he couldn't pin, plate, or put screws in the bones – they had to heal naturally without any weight on them for six weeks. Hearing this was hard for me, especially since I'd been working12-16 hour days prior to that accident."

Tim is now back to work full time, but there's still going to be healing time required before he's up to working the extra hours that financed his expanded creative projects. However, in addition to a great faith in his Creator, Tim's great faith and trust in the people of Labette Health is evident .

"I still have some stiffness in my ankle and I don't know what my over all condition will be. Breaking my ankle just about ruined us – my overtime was keeping our heads above water. All I could do was to ask for the good Lord's forgiveness and to help us through this, and he has. Blessings to all of Labette Health and their patients, who are blessed for choosing Labette Health."
