Additional
Rehab Services
The rehabilitation department also offers
additional programs to meet the needs of the community:
- Occupational Rehabilitation and Industrial Medicine
offers injury prevention education, work conditioning,
functional capacity evaluation, employment back screening
and work-site analysis.
- Low Vision Rehabilitation helps those with permanent
visual impairment that interferes with normal every day
functions. The program focuses on making changes in the
patient's environment, visual training, compensatory
techniques, using optical devices or other visual aids,
and retraining in activities of daily living.
- Lymphedema Treatment offers a therapist evaluation
of the swelling, movement and flexibility of the affected
area and the patient's ability to perform daily tasks.
Since there is no cure for lymphedema, the therapist's
role is to teach patients how to manage their symptoms
at home. This is done with a massage technique that helps
the lymph fluid drain more normally. Compression bandages
or garments are worn to prevent additional swelling.
It is the goal of Rehab Services to provide
the time, knowledge, and best care possible to each person.
