Shawn Southwick, D.O. Joins Labette Health Emergency Department

PARSONS, Kan., July 10, 2009 -- Labette Health’s newest emergency physician is Shawn Southwick, D.O.

A native of Garber, Okla., Dr. Southwick received a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma University in Norman before receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from Oklahoma State University in Tulsa.

He completed his family medicine internship and residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. He worked urgent-care clinics and emergency departments in Tennessee. He also worked at St. John’s MedCenter in Lamar, Mo., and St. John’s urgent care and emergency department in Joplin. Most recently, he was medical director of Independence Mercy Hospital’s emergency department.
